Westmont is located about 25 miles west of Chicago, along the Burlington-Northern/Santa Fe railway. The history of Westmont begins with the construction of the Illinois-Michigan Canal in the 1820s. The need to transport agricultural produce to the city put Westmont on the map and was a major contributor in its early growth. Westmont has become a community for professionals primarily working in downtown Chicago. In contrast, the town developed a strong small- and medium-sized business arena located off of Ogden Avenue and around its Metra railroad station. Westmont has a strong sense of community involvement, which many other Chicago suburbs have lost with time. Westmont’s quaint downtown area is one of the highlights of the town, along with over 150 acres of park property. One of the most popular being Ty Warner Park, donated by Ty Warner, the inventor of Beanie Babies, which features a zero-depth spray park.
The average sales price for single family Westmont homes from March 31st, 2017 to March 31st, 2018 was about $320,407 based on 194home sales. Average rent was $1,779 based on 116 properties rented in Westmont during the same time-frame.
There are six school districts that serve Village of Westmont residents. The six districts are comprised of three elementary districts (60
